The Sauk Centre Alumni Association is happy to announce that we are hosting an all school reunion on August 12-15, 2010.  Please mark your calendar now for next year and reserve the dates.

If you have an old car or truck, a newer fun car or truck, or a nice new fun car or truck that you are kind of proud of, or think is unique, please plan on putting in the car show down at the park.  You don’t need to be an alumni from Sauk Centre to display your car.

We plan on having many fun filled events, but the main theme will be for everyone attending to have ample time for visiting and reminiscing with old friends and classmates.  The schedule is as follows.

 Question & Answer Time.....

We continually get asked why $50.00 to attend?  What do I get for my $50.00?  Can I pick and choose which events I want to attend?  Can I just arrive and sign up then?  How do we know we paid for the weekend and people who didn’t pay sneak in?  Are drinks included at the dinner?

Drinks are not included.
When people arrive they will register and receive a bag, which will include tickets to the events and meals. These will be collected at each meal prior to being allowed in to the facility.

NO ONE will sneak in.

If we did not require pre-registration most people would NOT register and would plan on just showing up at each function. Can you imagine the chaos if we had 300 extra people show up for a meal and we didn't plan for enough food or if we had food for 1000 and only 500 showed
up. We need to have good numbers on attendees. There is a lot of money involved here so we need/to be as exact as possible.
Sorry that the $50 seems steep.  The fee covers all the costs of the weekend, including the breakfasts and dinner at Gerards. It also includes the street dance,

the covered patio in the park for day time visiting,

several thousands dollars in postage to send out 6000 cards,

costs of returned cards because of wrong addresses,

costs for re-mailing those cards after researching correct addresses so everyone gets informed and has a chance to attend the reunion,

cost to maintain the web site,

cost of maintaining the PO box,

cost of insurance for some of the functions,

cost of the gift in each registration packet.

Those of us who attend will have to pay for the mailing to those that don't attend, but can you imagine the backlash if we didn't try to get a invitation out to everyone?

Would you really have someone not attend because they think it should be $40 instead $50?  What price does one put on a chance to visit with all their teachers and alumni from other years?

We would like to allow people to pay for one function and not attend the rest, but that would be a nightmare to try and coordinate.  There would have to be several different combinations of tickets, and they would all have to be monitored so people could only attend what they pay for.  And than, the administration costs would still have to be added in.

Our committee is putting in hundreds of hours to put this function on and we are eating some of the minor expenses on our own.  The $50 should cover all the costs and hopefully none of us will have to have any more out of pocket expenses than we have already incurred.

I hope this answers everyone questions and I hope you will all sign up and attend so we can continue to have these every five years.  And remember, you don’t have to have graduated from Sauk to attend, just went to school for one or more years. And your significant other is always welcome.
